TimesofndtvNew Delhi has warned Beijing against failing to implement a recent agreement reached between the two countries to avoid clashes between Chinese and Indian troops.

India has said that if the ongoing situation on the border continues, it will have a negative impact on the development of bilateral relations.

The Times of India quoted the Indian Foreign Ministry as saying in a lengthy statement issued yesterday (Thursday).

The statement said the current situation along the Line of Actual Control could not continue indefinitely. "We hope that the Chinese will wholeheartedly abide by this agreement and ensure the restoration of peace in the border areas," it added.

Top officials of the two countries recently concluded a meeting on resolving Sino-Indian tensions on the border.

It was decided at the meeting that the armies of the two countries would be at a distance from each other from the front line in the Line of Actual Control.

Last week, clashes broke out between Chinese and Indian border guards in the Galwan Valley in Ladakh.

Twenty Indian soldiers, including a colonel, were killed. In addition, 6 Indian Army members were injured.

Unconfirmed sources in the Indian media claimed that 43 Chinese soldiers had been killed, but China did not provide details of the casualties.
