Mahfuza Mukta is graduating in Economics 2018 from the National University. Since then, he has applied for several government jobs and also tried for private jobs. Hopefully, this year will be a good job. But coronavirus has stopped his dream.
"Everything is stuck now because of the epidemic. There is no circular, no job test. I don't know when this epidemic will end when the job process will start again."
"The lives of those of us who are unemployed, desperately in need of jobs, are going through uncertainty because of this epidemic. There is no work, as long as it is going to be a burden for the family. The dirty look of the family members is adding to that frustration."
He said his parents were old enough to take care of his family. But because of this epidemic, he is not able to do that.
Another job seeker Faria Azad completed her studies in social work in 2016. He has been trying for a government job for the last few years.
"I have been trying for many years just to get a government job. I was thinking of taking the 41st BCS exam this year. Everything got stuck because of Corona. Meanwhile, the working-age is coming to an end. As a girl, there is also the pressure of marriage as a family. Being frustrated. " He says.
About 2 million young people join the job market in Bangladesh every year. A large number of them try to enter the public-private sector after completing their undergraduate or postgraduate studies.
The unemployment rate in the country is already high. But that crisis has been exacerbated by the coronavirus.
